Our Mission
The mission of the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston Medical School Department of Neurology is to provide a comprehensive learning environment for future neurologists, perform groundbreaking research in the field of neurology, and to provide cutting-edge care for patients who cross through the thresholds of our clinical sites.
In order to fulfill its mission, the department relies on the assistance of many important support staff that keeps this department running.
The department keeps a fresh approach to the field of Neurology, always remembering our motto:

Neurology welcomes George A. Lopez, M.D.
The Department of Neurology’s newest faculty member is Dr. George A. Lopez. Dr. Lopez comes to the Medical School from Baylor College of Medicine and Methodist Hospital from right here in the Texas Medical Center. He specializes in the treatment of stroke as well as neurocritical care. He has been appointed the Director of System-wide Neurocritical Care for the the Mischer Neuroscience Institute at Memorial Hermann. For more information about Dr. Lopez, visit his faculty page.
