Cellular therapy, including the use of stem cells, is a promising new investigational approach for the treatment of stroke. Extensive animal studies have shown that various stem cells and other types of cells enhance recovery from stroke. Our program is investigating the safety and efficacy of cell therapies for stroke both in animal research and in clinical trials.

Clinical trials available

  • Autologous Bone Marrow Cells: 1–3 days after stroke
  • Autologous Bone Marrow Stem Cell Study: 11–20 days after stroke
  • Allogenic Cell Studies: 1–5 days after stroke

For more information regarding these trials, contact Susan Alderman or Jennifer Garrett.
